Missing Miss

I am so sad :( My cat (Miss- the one without ears) was killed by a dog this evening, and I'm pretty beside myself with grief. I'll spare you the gory details, but let me tell you, it was a horrible way to go. After the "fight" she fled to the back of the garage, and my brother Joey carried her little body out in his arms. From what my mom says, it was a pretty awful scene.

She truly was the sweetest cat ever, and has been with us for 15 long years. I calculated her kitty years, and they equal 76 human years. The poor thing has been such a fighter, overcoming a multitude of cancers and becoming more loving each and every day. It didn't matter what afflicted her; she was completely content when she was with you. I always thought of her as my little white sun because of her rounded earless head, and the way she would close her eyes and push her head up into your hand for a pet ... it looked like she was smiling whenever she did that!

I never do well with loss. I quietly accept it on the outside, but then I dwell on it internally for the rest of my days. And to lose a being who was nothing but pure innocence is horrible enough, but to lose her so harshly- well, I just can't accept it yet. You have to understand that I regard life with such a passion, that I fear death unquantifiably, and that I can't even bring myself to kill a bug (unless it absolutely looks like it's going to eat me).

So yes, I am sad. And I want to blog my sadness away. It's not working though, so I'm going to look for a particular picture of her with Veruca when Veruca was a kitten ...

  1. Awwww Jen - I am so sorry :( I know how much you love your pets - they are truly a part of your family. Try to take comfort in knowing she is now somewhere where nothing can afflict her anymore. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
