Clothing Flashbacks

Maybe it's just me, but I tend to get very nostalgic while doing laundry! I still have clothes from high school, my first job, my first date with my boyfriend, a friend's wedding, etc. Each time I fold my clothes, my mind wanders back to the memories attached to those pieces. I find this so interesting and wonder if others do this too! I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

  1. I also am reminded of certain experiences when I look at certain clothes. Even when i see them hanging in my closet, it takes me back to a time when I wore them. I also have a problem with throwing things away bc I want to keep everything just in case, haha

  2. I am definitely this way! I can't help it, sadly it doesn't stop with clothes for me... :)

  3. Amazing how people become attached to stuff like clothes. I'm in need of some hair products, when I purchase some got2b do you want any feedback?

  4. I cannot say I do it so much with clothes, though I do get attached. Usually to the oldest rattiest thing in the closet, but I do it with music. Maybe everyone does. I still intentionally listen to things that remind of say listening to my walkman on the playground when I was five (Mariah Carrie: Emotions or Wilson Phillips). I still get too excited when I hear songs that remind of sleeping over at my best friends in early elementary (Tiffany and Mr Big) And the list goes on. Very specific details how each song relates to my life and what memory or person it conjures.

  5. Yeah...I kind of do the same. Except my mind tends to wonder to the thoughts of "what ever happened to...."

  6. Yes this happens to me all the time. I am getting ready for work and go through my closet and see either a shirt or a dress from some memorable occasion.

  7. I have clothes in my closet that I only wash and fold randomly... I don't really wear anymore but they have WAY too much sentiment attached to them. I hear ya!

  8. laundry to me is always alone ;) so it's quiet time foe me- and I tend to pray....but it is also heartbreaking because the children grow up so fast and those cute little dresses get oytgrown....you are definitely not alone on this one-

  9. I can relate to your experience. Guess clothes tells a great deal about us and our different stages of life. i do keep clothes that carry certain moment with it even though I knew I would probably never wear it again.

No I don't do that but I have done it with my children's clothes.

  13. oh my gosh i am HORRIBLE about doing this! it doesn't only happen with clothes though - it happens no matter what kind of cleaning i'm doing! if i stumble on a box of pictures or an old letter or card or ANYTHING i find myself going through the memories attached to it!

  14. Yes, unfortunately, I still have my old elementary school t-shirts, old prom dresses from boyfriends gone-bye... etc.

Ever watch that show (forget what it's called) but she comes into your house with an entire crew; humiliates you for the crap you've acculated then gets rid of it all.

Then you're expected to wear the same 4 outfits she kept to make your closet look neat.

I need a happy medium somewhere in between "pack rat" and "minimalist."

  15. Dresses are the biggest one for me, because they represent special occasions. I love being able to wear a favorite dress more than once because that just piles on the fantastic memories!
Thanks for the follow, by the way. Love your blog!
