Disneyland/California Adventure

On Monday morning, Joe and I awoke to the sounds of Disneyland already hopping and full of laughter and fun! We hurried to get ready, but much to my dismay, I found that I left my beloved hair straightener at home :( Oh well, braided pigtails feel very Disneyish to me!

We were absolutely starving, so we stopped by Marceline's Confectionery to buy our favorite jumbo size cookies (Joe gets the chocolate chip which taste just like chocolate milk, and I always get the snickerdoodle). They were just enough to give us the energy to start our day!

Unfortunately, I immediately got a blister on my toe, so we turned all the way back around and went back to the car for my flip flops. Who would have thought that tennis shoes would turn on me in such a way?!

On our way back through Downtown Disney to get to the park, we decided to stop and grab a real meal, so we ate at another of our favorites- Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria for a delicious margherita pizza and my very first Italian soda (so awesome!)

It was one of the most crowded days I've ever seen at the park, so we took advantage of the bordering California Adventure park which was a little less packed. We would grab a fast pass at one park for a ride, then play at the other park until it was time for our ride, so on and so forth. It ended up working out really well!

I'd say the highlights were Space Mountain because we got to sit in front which made it seem way faster, Soarin' Over California because we got the front on that too, and the Hollywood Tower of Terror which I rode for the first time! And let's not forget that Joe finally bought the turkey leg that he's had his eye on for years now. It looks and smells like ham, which is creepy, but he was happy.

Then, to top the entire trip, they have a ton of Alice in Wonderland stuff (my favorite Disney movie!) right now! I got the coolest t-shirt and various canisters of loose tea. And to top the topper, the first tea I picked up was Jasmine tea (my absolute favorite tea!!!)

It was a great trip!

  2. Shoshanah, I know that place! I tried it once, but it wasn't very good. Everyone raves about it though, so I think I just had it on an off day. I'll try it again when I go next time!

  7. Heck yes, braided pigtails are totally Disney! :D Glad you had fun. I'm a Disney brat, myself, although I've never been out to California. Just Florida (well, seeing as how I'm from Florida, it would make sense, right?).

Man, I just got back from Magic Kingdom two weeks ago and I want to go right back...ah, Disney. I love you so. :)

  8. LoL I love that you guys had cookies for breakfast....you're my hero, lol. :)

My tennies give me blisters too...I always wear flip flops to Disney...although here's a tip - if you have slippery flip flops like mine (basically i wear them so much that the bottom is smoothed over) do NOT wear them to Disneyland in the rain.....at least at the California side I noticed that the walkways are super smooth and when wet you literally cannot walk....I had this experience and Dan had to basically hold me up the whole morning until the rain stopped and the ground dried...it was miserable.

And you do realize that you go faster in the back of the roller coasters, right? Just the whole science of it - when going down a hill, the front is already halfway down while the back is still going up, then the back gets to go down the entire slope at full speed. :) Although I was recently thinking how cool it would be to ride in the front of Space Mountain because of how it's dark - it would be like flying! :)

And Soaring would be nice to be in the front....I lose the whole experience when I see feet above me and the side of the screen to my right or left.....not as cool.

When we went last week, Caydan said the Alice in Wonderland ride was his favorite from the whole day. :)

  15. I have never been to Disney Land only Disney World (millions and millions of times. Well ok in August it will be trip # 8 but it feels like home! hehe) and one of my favorite teas to bring home is Alice's English Breakfast Tea it comes in a tin canister painted with scenes from Alice In Wonderland. IDK if they have it at Disneyland but I'm sure they do. I love Disney and Disney tea and all things whimsy! I hope we can exchange blog links!
