I discovered something interesting this morning. I was sitting in a doctor's office waiting room, and out of boredom I began to play with my cell phone. First I checked my mail, then sent a couple of text messages and then logged into Facebook. A wave of self-consciousness hit me as I realized that I probably looked like a teeny-bopper glued to my cell. I quickly looked up to see if any judgmental eyes were on me, and what did I find???
Every single person in the room was playing with their phone! I kid you not! We all bypassed the magazine rack and tapped into our comfort zones to pass the time. Times are-a-changin'!
I try to be cautious of doing that these days. I want to try living in the moment more.
ReplyDeletei hear this. i know how that goes.
ReplyDeletei too try to be more aware... but it's amazing how much we depend on technology, or use it in times of boredom.
Hilarious. The other night I was at a happy hour and things got silent... I looked up and we were standing in a circle, 5 people all texting at once lol
ReplyDeletemy iPhone ALWaYS saves me!
ReplyDeletehaha, it's a sad epidemic.... and I'm guilty!!!
ReplyDeletei must say i havent fallen trap into the whole techy phone thing. i still flip the magazines. even though some are 6 months old.

Hi, Thanks for following my blog!
ReplyDeleteLife is so different with mobile phones. I don't know how I survived with out one. I didn't have one until I had finished University. Imagine High School with mobiles - no more scribbled down paper notes.
Phones are monopolising peoples time (mine too). At some point of every evening out, all my friends will be glued to their phones...and that's not even a boring situation. It's just such a limitless device now. I love my phone, but it drives me crazy. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm that way with my Iphone, I can read the New York Times, catch up on Twitter, or go on Facebook while I'm waiting.
ReplyDeleteI do the same, only because I feel like every sick person has probably touched those magazines. At least my phone is {semi} germ-free! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL Jen, that is too funny! I am probably the only person that does not have one of those fancy cell phones *gasp*! I just have one for emergencies only, no fluff, just a dial pad!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my laptop though :)
ReplyDeleteLuLu♥
totally - very common to multi-task this way now :D
ReplyDeleteTimes really are changing, aren't they? I have had the same phone for about 3 years now and it's very basic and boring, so it doesn't provide much entertainment.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by blog! I'm looking forward to browsing around yours. :)
