But sometimes ... like I said, I nap. This is one of those weeks. Every few hours my mind goes foggy and my fingertips begin to tingle. I can feel myself drifting until it simply does not make sense to stay awake any longer. It's like that cold medicine feeling times 10.
Luckily, it just dawned on me as to why I've been so sleepily out of sorts! I'm such a night owl by nature, but this week I've actually been waking up at "normal people" time and going to sleep in a relatively similar manner. I need to stop this! PRONTO!
Even though I'm used to waking up early now and am able to follow this new schedule, it's actually killing my natural enthusiasm for life and all of my productivity. I'm a zombie! I'm not meant to live like this, so I think that starting this weekend, I'm putting myself back on the Jen schedule! Go to sleep at 3:00am and wake up at 10:00am.
Unconventional? Perhaps. Necessary? Most definitely!
I love afternoon naps. They're very Mediterranean in nature (because of the heat that we have). Unfortunately being at work means that I can't have them =/ Though I nap at the weekends sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI wish I loved them more! Whenever I take them, I wake up feeling unsettled. I envy people who can enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteTired and tingly is not good! Sleep when you need it and your body wants it. :O)
ReplyDeleteI also feel the need to nap practically every day-but I do pass them up because there is always something that can be done in that time I am napping. But b/c I force myself to stay awake, nothing ever gets done. I work best on the 3am-10am schedule as well!! It is the life! =]
ReplyDeleteThis happens to me all the time. My body's natural sleep rhythm is flipped completely--it thinks I'm on the other side of the world and wants me to sleep during the day and be awake all night. It's awful! And apparently the only way to fix it is to let it do what it wants for a while and then slowly adjust it...so at some point in my life I'm going to have to take a few months off to convince my body that it should sleep at night. (Even when I do sleep at night, it's light and fitful...I can sleep 11 hours and then be exhausted all the next day because none of it was good sleep.)
ReplyDeleteSleeping from 3-10 much better fits my schedule, too :)
ReplyDeleteI love to nap! I love to sleep period. Everyone has a natural body clock and it is important to live by it. If we don't, our bodies will pay the consequences in the long run. I can not get up before 9:00.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE TAKING NAPS!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband says that if sleeping/naping was an Olympic activity...I'd win hands down for sure!
I love sleeping...but I love getting up early too :)
I love taking naps- I just need them! :)

I love naps, but I totally know how you feel about missing something while you're asleep. I am also a night owl by nature. It's hard to go to sleep and wake up at normal people times, yet during school it's unfortunately necessary.

I always go upstairs after lunch with the Mini's (my two Poms) and the three other big dogs in tow and take a two hour nap. If I don't, I'm cranky! I get up at 4:00 every day so by lunch I need a nap!

I've been back on my schedule for a few days now, and these are the first days in months where I haven't had any headaches! I feel so much better!
