There's No Place Like Home

{Gingerbread Cottage via Kinkade USA}

I've always been a window shopper. My mom doesn't get it at all. Her philosophy is why torture yourself, whereas mine is figure out what you want and then go for it! Window shopping, therefore, is an inspiring act!

My latest window shopping has actually been house-centric. I've been doing mass Google searches for local rentals as I'm gearing up for the move that I mentioned in my 30th Birthday Freak Out post. At 30 years old, I think it's about time for a home office and a big kitchen. My other must-haves include bright lighting to counter the dimness of the condo that I've been living in for the past 8 years, a bathroom that screams "relax and read in here!", and a fireplace for cozy winter writing. My boyfriend is all about the garage and backyard.

What features would be on your wishlist if you were scouting rentals?

  1. We just found an almost perfect rental! Our last place was a condo... with no light, terrible insulation and windows on only one side which made the entire place feel like a cave... Now we're living in a cute old duplex! It's super dated but there is a yard that we can turn into a garden, windows on all sides but one and a gigantic kitchen with more cabinets than I know what to do with! It's HEAVEN!!! Well, it's not exactly heaven, but it's definitely renters heaven for us!

    Oh, and I'm TOTALLY a window shopper. I like to do my research! I even read the menu online before I'll eat at a restaurant and I'm not at all a picky eater... I just like information! =)

    Good luck on your housing search!!!

  2. That's EXACTLY how my condo is! I have sliding glass doors on one side - no windows at all. It's so depressing!

    And I look up the menus, too!
