Today marks day 1 of #30DayHomies with Kristen Bell as my workout buddy. Hey, if you want proof that she really is my workout bud, check out our back and forth Tweets from earlier today:
She can be your workout buddy, too. Just join the #30DayHomies challenge and workout for 1 hour a day for 30 days straight. It sounds almost doable, but not quite when you consider just how busy life can get. But that's the beauty of this challenge ... carry on with your daily life but live it in motion. Walk whenever possible, take the stairs and take your dog outside for a run. On the days where you can squeeze in a real workout, do it my way and "play" rather than workout. Pick up a jump rope, a hula-hoop, some skates or dive into a pool. Just keep moving!
I broke my first day into 20 minute increments since I had lots of work to do and couldn't spare an entire 60 minutes all at once. My little bursts of energy actually cleared my head and I worked better after each workout.
First, I pulled my very-rarely-used elliptical in front of the TV and watched an episode of Big Bang Theory. That show always seems to fly by while I watch it, so it seemed like the perfect way to get my first 20 minutes in.
Then I spent another 20 minutes picking up around the apartment, but in a very strategic way. Rather than clean everything in sight, I would bend down and pick up an item, then quickly walk to the other side of the room and pick up another. Back and forth, up and down. It ended up being quite the workout with dips and sprints!
To finish it off for the day, I spent those last 20 minutes walking after dinner. I chose a route with an incline and came home with a nice dose of delicious endorphins!
As crazy as it sounds, I can't wait for day 2! See you tomorrow :)
