The Smoothie "Diet"

{mango, banana, apple, strawberries, raspberries, spinach, kale, ground flax seed, vanilla protein powder, non-fat Greek yogurt and Welch's blueberry-pomegranate-grape juice}

My annual Washington trip is nearly upon me, and I've been working out and eating healthy so I can buy some vacation clothes before I leave! Well, not eat ... drink!

My "little" brothers (19 and 21 year old men who are a good foot taller than me now), are so obsessed with health and fitness that it boarders on annoying. They drink smoothies loaded with protein powder before and after they hit the gym. One day, they actually got me to try one of their concoctions and guess what?! It wasn't too bad!

It dawned on me that I could lose weight while getting all of the nutrients that I need if I replaced my meals with smoothies, so I loaded up on fruits and veggies, bought some vanilla ice cream flavored protein powder and began my healthy journey.

I'm just one week in and have lost 3 pounds already! The lovely thing is that I'm not depriving myself of anything, I'm just using a different method of eating and using healthier foods.

Anyway, I thought that I'd share my little journey with you in case anyone here is interested in taking advantage of the yummy summer fruits and veggies right now. You can follow me on Pinterest where I have a board dedicated entirely to smoothie recipes! You'll find the "Smoothies" board in between "Innocent Drinks" and "Cooking with Flowers".

Aside from the smoothies, I've been eating half a can of organic black beans mixed with a quarter cup of marinara sauce whenever I get hungry (usually once in the early afternoon and then again for dinner). Everyone I know thinks it sounds like a gross combo, but I personally love it! It's a cross between chili and spaghetti.

I have 16 days before my trip and I can't wait to see what size I get to shop for at the end of the month!

P.S. For exercise I've been taking nightly walks, lots of stretching throughout the day and a burst of crunches before bed.
