The Simple Secret to Losing Weight

Diets kind of suck, right? You go hungry and eat miserably boring food when you do allow yourself a nibble, and it seems like as soon as you've reached your goal weight (if you ever even get there before throwing in the towel), the lbs sneak right back on.

I've been struggling with losing weight more than I ever have before and it's been baffling. I started exercising more, I cut out fast food, I ate less ... but no change on the scale. 

I finally started doing some research and found an overwhelming amount of people saying that instead of dieting we should be detoxing. Most importantly, it was dietitian after dietitian preaching this concept. They explained the science behind it which, in a nutshell, is this:

Sugar converts to fat very easily. Wheat converts to glucose which is another form of sugar, so cut both of those out of your everyday diet. Also, unnatural chemicals in our food get stored in our existing fat cells and plump them up even more, so cut out processed foods asap!

After looking into some detox programs I found one that seemed easy to follow and actually stick to. Dr. Oz's Total 10 detox is hands down the most amazing "diet" that actually makes sense! I won't bore you with the details, but I did it for 12 days before allowing myself a holiday weekend cheat and am back on it by choice - because I feel fantastic while on it!

I lost weight, inches and headaches. I gained energy and my overall mood improved. My old jeans fit again, my skin stopped randomly breaking out and the best part was that I was NEVER hungry! In fact, I actually had a difficult time finishing the food each day because it was just too much. 

Now that I'm back on the detox I'm tweaking it just a little to make it easier on myself. Namely, I'm cutting the amount of protein by a couple of ounces each meal. I was always so full from lunch and dinner that I never even touched the allowed snacks, all-you-can-eat veggies and all-you-can-drink broth. Seeing as how variety is the spice of life, I think the key to sticking to the plan is mixing things up a bit more. 

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my little success story because it's been life changing for me. It's so silly that the answer to my physical issues was so simple and right under my nose this entire time!
